I’ve seen what I should’ve have seen.

My eyes won’t close for sleep.

My heart refuses to stop racing.

My tears have dried up.

My blood boils hot and steamy.

I’m lost to this world.

I’ll soon be one with the next.

Kane Saucier has chosen to walk away from a family fortune to wear a badge. As Sheriff of Kerrville County, he lives near his brother Zane and his friends, the McCoys of Tebow Ranch. His life is good, but something is missing. The Sheriff is lonely until love walks through the door of his office one day in the form of Lilibet Ladner. She’s not had an easy life, but from the moment they meet, the sparks fly. While everything is perfect in the bedroom, there is trouble in paradise – intrigue, danger and mystery turn their world upside down. Kane’s faith never wavers; his Little-bit is worth fighting for. And even when her darkest hour comes, Lilibet refuses to give up on her dreams or her Brown Eyed Handsome Man.

This is my excerpt for the day from A BROWN EYED HANDSOME MAN – the sheriff of Kerr County and friend of the McCoys.

Heading out into the street, he saw her making her way down the sidewalk. Stopping to speak to Rex Driscoll, the dry cleaner, she pulled her cart to one side and walked over to him with her uneven, little gait. From around the corner, a herd of Junior High boys came barreling by and didn’t even try to avoid jostling her. Already at a disadvantage, balance-wise, they sent her flying. Kane winced as she landed on the concrete walk—hard.
“Rats.” Lilibet scrambled to get up, embarrassed to be making such a spectacle of herself. Rex hobbled over to her, but someone else got to her first. Strong arms caught her up and she found herself nestled against a rock-hard chest. “I’m sorry. I’m always so clumsy.” Completely flustered, she leaned back to look at her rescuer, knowing full well who it was. “Kane, I thank you so much.” He sat her on her feet, and shocked her when he began brushing dirt and dust off her arms and legs.
“Damn kids,” Driscoll mumbled. “Are you all right, Sweetie? I’ll go get you a glass of water.” The old man tottered off.
“Are you all right, love?” Kane asked, feeling unaccustomed warmth in the area of his heart.
Looking at him in surprise, Lilibet cherished the kind words. “Oh, yes. I’ve took much worse spills than this.” Why was he looking at her so strangely? If she didn’t know better, the good sheriff of Kerr County was about to kiss her. Her -crippled Lilibet Ladner—out here on Main Street, in front of God and everybody.
Big blue eyes met his, and her mouth opened expectantly. Kane could see her nipples bead, as plain as day, through her pink cotton camisole. Her heart was racing. He could feel her pulse under his fingertips as he held her wrist. “I think I ought to give you fair warning, Miss Ladner. I’m about to kiss those delectable pink lips of yours. Am I going to get my face slapped?”
Lilibet couldn’t breathe. She was about to receive her very first kiss. ‘Lord, please don’t let me faint,’ was her prayer. She wouldn’t miss this for the world. “No, I would be very grateful for a kiss,” she whispered.
Kane leaned in, slowly. His own heart was pounding like a jack-hammer. It’d been years since he wanted a woman with such a white-hot intensity. Unmindful of the crowd gathering around them, Sheriff Kane Saucier gathered her sexy little body up in his arms and lowered his head to taste the sweetness of her lips.
“Atta boy, Sherriff!”
Damn! Sweeping his little angel up in his arms, he carried her into the dry cleaners, avoiding the annoying comments of the interested townspeople.
“Rex, I’m commandeering your office. Guard the door!” Rex, who was just getting back from fetching the glass of water, gave him a knowing grin. Kane sat Lilibet down on the edge of the desk, and took the beverage from his friend. “Thanks.” He shut the door behind the old man.
“I could have walked,” mumbled Lilibet, totally embarrassed. The kiss she’d been looking forward to was fast turning into a study of her disability. She hated for someone to have to do extra because of her shortcomings. “I know I’m a cripple, but I get around pretty good, for me.”
Kane frowned at her. “You’re not a cripple, and don’t let me hear you call yourself that again.” He hated the word. “I think you are a beautiful woman, one I plan on getting to know a whole lot better.” At that declaration of intent, Kane picked her up, sat on the edge of the desk and arranged her until she was sitting astraddle one of his hard thighs, her breasts pressed into his chest and her hands cupped around his forearms. “Now, I’ve got you where I want you.”Excitement rushed through her veins like white water. Proximity to a man wasn‘t something she’d ever been privileged to know, especially not the man of her dreams. “Are you still going to kiss me?” she asked hopefully.
Kane looked at her sweet face. “Oh, yeah, I’m gonna kiss the livin’ daylights out of you.”

THE WOLF HOWLS TODAY! It’s Release Day for Howl Sassy!

The Wolf Howls today! It’s Release day for Howl Sassy! Get it while it’s hot! (and it is hot, lol)

Russia, 1889
Sebastian Von Drake woke as the sun crept above the horizon. His arms were wrapped around his tiny mate, though not so tiny at the moment. He smiled and rubbed his hand over the mound of her belly, his pup rested inside and his mate snuggled into his touch.
Bastian kissed her cheek and pulled the covers closer around Ekaterina as he slipped from the warm nest of their bed. He didn’t want to leave the tenderness of her embrace, but something pricked at his senses.
Pulling on woolen leggings and leather boots, Bastian climbed to the parapet and searched the surrounding area. He called his wolf forward, increasing all his senses. The Assinov Pack had been making trouble lately and Bastian was worried. He could beat Alec in a fair challenge easily, but Ekaterina’s pregnancy made him vulnerable. Alec Assinov wasn’t an honorable wolf. Bastian feared he would go after Kat to gain control of the Von Drake pack.
Kat held his heart, and their cub his soul. He loved her more than he loved his own life, and it scared the hell out of him. Her diminutive size concerned him: she wasn’t weak. God, he would never call her that: she would take his balls if he did. However, by wolf standards, Ekaterina was an aberration; only five-foot-three in human form, and one-hundred pounds soaking wet.
Within, his mate held all the fire of the wolf. He often teased her about being a wolf named Kat, a running joke between them. Bastian loved to make her temper flare, it always led to a hot romp in bed.
Normally, Ekaterina could defend herself well, but now, due to the birth of their pup any day, round with child, she was ungainly and more concerned with protecting their young than herself. Fur rolled across the surface of Bastian’s arms as he thought of his mate and pup in danger, and a deep growl rumbled from his throat.
Eyes glowing red in the burgeoning daybreak, Sebastian caught movement in the tree line to the south of the estate. His senses had not failed him. They were under attack. Anger soared through his veins like molten lava and he sent an urgent mental call out to the pack.
Spotted movement in the south woods perimeter, prepare for imminent attack! Anton, to the Alpha mate–protect her with your life. Eto panyAtno? (Do you understand me?)
Da, Alpha. Came the immediate reply from Sebastian’s second in command.
Sebastian turned and raced for the ground floor. He needed no weapons, his jaws and claws were all he required to defeat this enemy. His rage a living, burning fire in his gut, he transformed to his half-beast as he bounded down the stairs, practically jumping the flights in a single leap. Sebastian, a big man, a big wolf, in his half-beast form he was enormous, almost seven feet tall with paws sporting five inch claws and a morphed wolf-human face, flashing razor sharp fangs that would scare the devil himself.
As fast as he traveled, the battle still began before Sebastian reached the ground floor. Shouts, growls and howls came from the halls below and Sebastian poured on even more speed. Must protect. Kill. Defeat.
The sight that met him at the castle’s main hall overwhelmed him. How have so many wolves breached my outer defenses? At least a hundred wolves engaged in battle in the hall. Without thought Sebastian dove in to the melee, grabbing the nearest wolf and tearing his head off.
The battle raged for hours, blood and guts ran in rivers on the cobblestone floor. Casualties were great on both sides. Sebastian felt the death of each of his wolves through his psychic connection to the pack, blows straight to his soul, but he continued to fight. He must protect the pack and his mate.
As he ripped open the abdomen of yet another Assinov wolf, a heart-wrenching scream sounded in his mind and he fell to his knees. No, no, no! Ekaterina!
The royal chambers were up two floors and at the back of the keep. Sebastian’s main objective had been to keep the wolves from making it past the main hall. How had someone gotten to his beloved mate?
Tearing up the stairs like the hounds of hell were on his heels, Sebastian burst into his rooms with a howl and felt a part of his heart die. His second, Anton, lay on the floor, arms outstretched toward Kat, and bleeding profusely from a deep slice to his gut.
But Sebastian only had eyes for his mate. She lay on the floor beside their bed, her gossamer white gown now grotesquely turning red as her life-blood pooled around her. Their pup had been cut from her womb and lay beside her, lifeless and so tiny. The umbilical cord still attached and hanging from her womb. She barely breathed, but she was still alive.
Sebastian ran to her and cradled her head in his lap. Kissing her pale blue lips and murmuring words of love. “I’m so sorry, my love. I failed you. I will love you always,” he cried as his tears fell on her upturned face.
With a shuddering breath Ekaterina opened her eyes and gave him that look he loved so much, the one that held all her love in just a gaze. She opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out, and the love of his life closed her eyes for the last time.
It’s said the howl of mourning that came from Sebastian’s throat could be heard for a hundred miles.
He had nothing left to live for but vengeance, and vengeance would be his. Every last wolf that invaded his keep would die today, and if he died too, that would be a blessing.
