***Captive Vow is a dark romantic thriller. If you don’t like a sprinkle of shock, a dash of taboo, and a heavy dose of sex, then don’t take a sip of my cocktail.
Captive Vow is a strange dark tale, and I don’t want to give away much.
Demi is a waitress in a small town with only her fellow waitress Maria her only friend. Demi has a terrible secret her mother is being executed after a terrorist explosion had killed innocent people and her mother was responsible. On the day of the execution Demi goes to work as usual and tries unsuccessfully to put it out of her mind. So it with pleasure she goes to help feed an old lady Viv with Parkinson’s to eat.
Demi wakes and finds she is trapped in a box and tied up so she can’t move. When Demi finds out she has been kidnapped by VIV the old lady she has helping for months she finds it unbelievable. Before long they arrive at a beautiful house in the middle nowhere, but Demi has been drugged and placed in the basement and tied to a chair naked. The Viv she meets there is like a totally different woman.
Viv threatens her with Maria and her baby, if she won’t do as she’s told it will be Maria who will suffer as she has someone watching them. So Demi must train to be a good wife to her son Pope. Pope is appalled and wants to take Demi home straight away. When the situation is explained he does everything he can keep her save.
Even though the plot is dark, the relationship between Pope and Demi becomes very real, I enjoyed this fast but strange book. The route to a HEA wasn’t a usual but it still a twisted but enthralling read.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review
