Series: Heart Falls #1
This cowboy has given up on love, but the new nanny might just make him change his mind. The first in a brand-new series from New York Times bestselling author Vivian Arend.
Caleb Stone is wearing too many hats and it’s making him crankier than usual. He’s a cowboy, a father, and the head of his large family—and has been since tragedy claimed his parents over ten years ago. The ranch is struggling, but it’s the title of single dad that’s got him tangled up in knots. He needs a full-time, live-in nanny at the Silver Stone homestead in Heart Falls, Alberta, to help with his two little girls, but the woman about to arrive on his doorstep? Tantalizing, tempting, and trouble with capital T’s.
Tamara Coleman doesn’t regret the choices that led to losing her job, but she definitely needs a fresh start. When a friend recommends her for a nanny position in a new town, she swears this time it’ll be different. No more acting on impulse—except sexy, gruff Caleb is exactly the kind of man who pushes all her buttons. And what’s more, it’s so much fun to push his in return. Sparks fly between Tamara and her gorgeous boss, but she can’t risk her position, and he doesn’t dare risk his heart.
With two people fighting their true natures, something’s going to give. Luckily, there’s more than one way to capture a rancher’s heart
Caleb’s expression might be unreadable, but his eyes—
He couldn’t hide the fire burning in his gut. Lust, not anger.
It appeared his little lesson had backfired.
Inspiration hit—a bad, wicked idea that was so wrong. So very wrong, but now that it was fully formed, stopping was damn near impossible.
She needed to turn away.
Need to grab on and take a bite.
God, she needed a bite of Caleb Stone.
Do it. Take a bite.
Fine, it was a bad idea, but she’d blame the stupidity on the heat in her veins, bubbling now with sexual frustration as well as anger.
Tamara lifted her chin and looked him in the eye as she adjusted position. Closer. Closer, until she could skim her fingertips over his impossibly hard chest. Circling and teasing the light dusting of curls and the tight surface of his nipples.
“I’m sorry, baby. You’re right. I misspoke. You are just fine without a woman. Your bed isn’t cold and lonely.” As she spoke she slid her hand down. Slowly, lower, until her thumb stroked the thick ridge she found waiting, pressed to the front of his jeans. “You don’t spend the night with your fist wrapped around your cock.”
Caleb swallowed hard. His pulse raced at the base of his throat.
“Tamara—” The word was a harsh growl.
But he didn’t move away.
“Or maybe you do. Taking care of yourself—I’m sure you take care of yourself no problem.” Tamara unsnapped the button on his jeans. He grabbed her wrist. “Not that I blame you. I do the same thing.”
The sound of his zipper being lowered meshed with a dangerous rumble deep in his chest. He let go of her hands, and then, oh my God, he was touching her. Skimming his palms up her waist, slowing as he passed her breasts.
She ached. She waited, no longer angry, but on fire with desire.
Caleb sucked for air, chest heaving as he fought—for control? For strength? He slid his fingers into her hair and tightened, lifting her face.
Then his lips crashed down and he was kissing her senseless.
It was with great pleasure to receive an ARC of this book from the author, as I am a great fan of The Rocky Mountain House Series. This is a spin off with Tamara Coleman goes to Heart Falls to be Caleb Stone’s nanny. We met the Stone family in Jessie and Dare’s book.
Tamara has a heart of gold, but is very outspoken just what Caleb and his daughters Sasha and Emma need.
This new series has a similar feel to it as Rocky Mountain Home. Always family first, and we get to know the Stone brothers. Tamara makes friends easily so we meet some of the characters from Heart Falls.
This was the first in a series so we had background to family and the ranch. It was beautiful to watch Caleb learning to love again. Tamara was gone on Caleb from the first meeting, but fought the attraction because of confusing the little girls. Caleb benefited with Tamara unfettered truths and her outspokenness. I have to gush I loved this book and can’t wait for A Rancher’s Song.
