ARC REVIEW: STUD, A Romantic Comedy By Kelly Siskind!

Kelly Siskind’s hot new romantic comedy!

A down-to-earth carpenter. A Prada loving personal shopper.
A Habitat for Humanity project that erects more than walls…

The word “nail” has so many meanings:

Ainsley’s manicured nails belong in the Museum of Modern Art.
The fashionista hammers nails at Habitat for Humanity.
She desperately wants to nail Owen Phillips.

Unfortunately, she mistakenly thinks he’s gay.

Owen’s never-ending divorce has taken a turn from messy to downright vindictive. Yearning for the simpler things in life, like working with his hands, he joins a Habitat build. Turns out he also wants to work over Ainsley Hall…but the confusing bombshell flirts blatantly with other men.

When Ainsley discovers Owen’s true sexuality, their mutual attraction ignites, but he hasn’t shared the extent of his divorce drama. If he can’t disprove his ex’s false allegations, it will take more than hammers and nails (and nailing studs) to keep their walls from caving in.

This was an entertaining romantic comedy from Kelly Siskind, this is the first time I have read one of her books and won’t be the last. Sometimes we want a fun read that will bring the smile to your face. The one thing I loved was they were 2 normal people with Ainsley a personal shopper who is tired shopping for gifts for cheating husbands’ wives and girlfriends it made her uncomfortable. So to make her feel better she volunteers for Habitat for Humanity. There she meets Owen, at first thinking he is gay and they become friends. Owen is making hand made furniture and volunteering at the same site as Ansley. The sexual tension is there from the beginning, and once Ansley finds out he isn’t gay. Its full steam ahead, and not a Billionaire in sight.
This is witty and enjoyable romantic comedy, and the tension between Owen and Ainsley both having previous failed relationships that effect the way they view each other. What follows is comedy of errors, love and misunderstandings. I love Owen he was a sweetie, and fell for Ainsley straight away. As we know the path to true love is never smooth. Also a good cast of characters to support the main couple. If you like a good laugh this is for you.

4 star review

A small-town girl at heart, Kelly moved from the city to open a cheese shop with her husband in northern Ontario. When she’s not neck deep in cheese or out hiking, you can find her, notepad in hand, scribbling down one of the many plot bunnies bouncing around in her head. She laughs at her own jokes and has been known to eat her feelings—gummy bears heal all. She’s also an incurable romantic, devouring romance novels into the wee hours of the morning.
