AS I LOVE YOU AILY Teaser[103789]

Excerpt:

I spent another week in Prague. He was very busy, putting in fourteen to sixteen hour days. I occupied my time with some shopping and a little sightseeing. Others from the cast and crew spent a little time with me as well. I actually had a great time and a lot more understanding of what life was like for a movie actor.
Aidan was a phenomenal lover, always tender, as well as living up to his vow to bring me pleasure. We always fell asleep holding one another afterwards. I was going to feel cold and empty when I went home. Again, I pushed those morose feelings away. I had every intention of enjoying each second I had with him. I was bound and determined to live in the moment.
Refusing to fret over what he meant to me, or how much I wanted and needed him in my life. He was truly my other half. I was smart enough to know that the beginning part of any relationship was easy. It was the years down the road, learning to work through all of life’s ups and downs together, that truly made a soul mate. Plus, I’d been around long enough to know, nothing stayed happy forever.

Blurb:

Desperate people commit desperate acts.
All-consuming desperation led her to deceive herself, her sister, and the man she loves.
Keeley Kincaid is in over her head—trading one addiction for another. She’s convinced she can handle it and hold everything together.
But deception has a mind of its own.
Enter the world where lines blur. Nothing is as it seems. Good and evil come together in a macabre display. And at the heart of it all beats the drum of deceiving those loved most. Can love and light ever penetrate such darkness?

Dark Craved Teaser[103799]

Excerpt:

Darkness consumed the young woman. The dream was evident with every violent thrash she gave, yet something told her there was so much more. Cold sweat drenched her body as a monster from the past rose up to claim her, again. She should have fought. Should’ve demanded he stop. Problem was, she not only relished what his sadistic torture brought to life inside her, but savored it. Craved it. Wanted more and more until the demon fully possessed her. She invited him in as an adored lover welcomed her mate. His violence was familiar, comforting. She was as acquainted with his wrath as her own skin. Yes, Keeley was his and he knew it, demanding she bleed out for him—only him. With an enraged kick across the bed, she knocked over the bedside table, slicing her foot on a lamp that broke. The smell of blood wafted through the air, increasing her desire. She needed him to fuck her. To bathe in her life source until she ran dry.
The devil sneered as he took a bite of her innermost parts, draining her of every ounce of essence she could provide. And she only wanted to give him more as he took with a vengeance, malevolence raging to have her. From the grave he wrapped his decaying fingers around her throat and squeezed. “Give it to me, Keeley,” his seductive voice commanded.
Something in that awakened another side of her. A spark of light, she long considered forever extinguished, incessantly attempted to shine. The flame required her oxygen, her fuel to burn. Burn with a brilliance. Burn with a purpose. The demon roared and writhed beneath the ever-present love that wouldn’t let him take what was so clearly his. She wanted him, unmistakably claimed his wickedness as her own. He could give her what that damnable light never could. She was addicted to pain as if it’d become her new brand of heroin. He raged in fury at the flickering, tiny spark that refused to go out and let him have his prize. It was so weak, so pathetic, if he could convince her to put it out, once and for all, they could reign together. He’d have his queen to do with as he pleased—when he pleased. Never permitting death. An eternity of torture and pain he knew she yearned for in the deep recesses of her soul. Yes, her soul was what he fought for.
And he would have it!
All of a sudden, when he violently slammed his cock inside her forbidden hole he felt a pain like no other, screaming, the demon withdrew and examined his prized possession. Worry knitted his brow as he saw the decay climbing along his proud manhood. His hand shook as his body shuddered. What was happening? He searched rapidly to find the source of this new development. That was when he saw it, rising from the ashes. The damnable flair coming to life, still struggling to hold on, but fight it was doing. Immeasurable love blinding him as he shielded his eyes. He had to take care of that before it gained any more strength. In an instant, his quest shifted. Destroy that light, that fucking love, and she was his forevermore. He backed into the shadows he was so accustomed to, studying his newest foe. But his queen had more than one holding that light alive.
He hissed, “Lacey and those damn Strand brothers,” before realizing that, while Keeley’s sister and her new family posed a threat, she wasn’t his biggest adversary. No. The one called Tar was going to valiantly fight for her.
His maniacal laugh caused the troubled Keeley to rise, terror in her eyes as they darted around the room. She couldn’t see him, of course. He stepped closer and ran his hand through her hair and whispered, “Your knight will not save you. Love isn’t what you desire. Only I can give you what you need. Mark my words, beauty, he shall die. And you will be the one to destroy him.”
Keeley screamed and screamed and screamed until her vocal chords refused to function. Her eyes blinked rapidly, for she knew—she knew—her monster spoke the truth. If she permitted Tar into her heart, she would be his executioner. No more thought entered her mind as she moved like a robot. This was rote to her. Bag in hand, she snuck out like a thief acknowledging she could never return, yet if it kept Tar alive and safe, she’d gladly pay the price of loneliness. A light like his should never come in contact with the obsidian that was her.
Darkness smiled as he laced his fingers with hers and tugged her into a world she would never escape. He had won, after all.

Tar and Keeley need love and light, but when a ruthless cartel takes Tar’s brother, he and Keeley must come together in the ultimate battle against the darkness … but it has other plans.

Fire Tar Teaser[104236]

Excerpt:

Keeley reached forward to smooth out that deep V between his eyes and heard his deep intake of breath. So much to say but she wasn’t sure how long her voice would cooperate, or if he’d be able to hear her raspy whisper. Frustration filled her, spilling down her cheeks, which brought more worry to his brutally handsome face. “I’m sorry. So, so sorry for hurting you.” She wiped the flowing tears away and continued, “Sorry for lying to you. I sh-should…”

“No. No. No should’ve. It’s not all your fault, Keeley. I owe you an apology, too.” She leaned within kissing distance and he sweetly pulled out of range. Next, he hit his knees before her but never broke eye contact. “I failed you. I let you down. I broke a promise. A man is nothing without his word. I violated that in the most dishonorable of ways.” More tears streamed down her beautiful face as she shook her head. “Yes, I did. You know it’s true.” His hand was now above her left breast against her heart. He felt it beating harder. “You feel it,” not a little awe in his voice laced with hope. “Let me make it up to you. Show you how sorry I am. Prove to you that your love is enough. That we can work through this and be stronger.” Her breathing hitched but she was still shaking her head. “Your darkness doesn’t scare me, Tigress. Please, can I have another chance to prove that to you?” He waited on baited breath. This was it. That question determined it all.

Their future.
Their love.
She held his heart in the palm of her tiny hand.

God, the man was breathtaking. She did not deserve him. The kind thing to do would be to set him free. But her heart, her soul refused. “I’ve made mistakes. Some…unforgivable.” Her head dropped while she stared at the floor.

Firm fingers lifted her chin. “Look at me, Keeley Ann Kincaid.” She didn’t want to. Had no desire to see his disappointment or chastisement. Again, she focused in another direction.
He sighed heavily. “You’re killing me here, Viper. Please look at me,” he begged.

That got her attention and brought her tear filled gaze to his. What she saw stole her breath.
Unadulterated love danced in his gorgeous emerald eyes. Brighter from the unshed tears he held at bay. She couldn’t help but study how they clung to his thick raven lashes. For her. He was pleading for her forgiveness, for her love. For a second chance. “All that is shattered can be mended,” she barely whispered and locked her little fingers around his large ones on her chin, shifting them away.

Light Ecover[103802]

Light
Beautiful Ashes Series
Book 3
by Lora Ann
Genre: Steamy Dark Romance,

New Adult & College Romance, Supernatural Thriller

Blurb:

Tar’s lost in the halls of his own mind.
His body haunted by desires, his heart burning with a strange, familiar fire.
All he can think about is tasting her, knowing her, owning her.
But especially remembering her.

Light Teaser[103803]

Excerpt:

Trepidation filled her as she approached him, sleeping. She was cautious, leaning over and
whispering in his ear, “I’ll always love you,” before kissing the side of his mouth. Shock filled
her when a big hand fisted her hair and locked her lips to his. The kiss saying everything. Both
pulled away breathless. Tears streamed down her cheeks. Tar reached up to catch them. “What’s
wrong, Beautiful?”

“Oh, my God, you don’t remember!”
His face hardened. “I remember you giving up on us!” He pushed her away.
She crossed her arms over her chest. “What the hell are you talking about? I didn’t give up!” Her
voice rising on the last two words.
“The fuck you didn’t,” he growled. “You. Let. Go.”
Her wide-eyed gaze on his. “I couldn’t hang on. Are you actually blaming me for that?”
Her finger tapping along the brace to make her point. “I sorta had a good reason!” she yelled,
bringing Nik, E, and Lacey into the room.
E carefully eyed them. “Hey, you two need to lower your voices.”
“None of your fucking business, E,” Tar warned.
Nik stepped up. “Calm the fuck down.”
Tar’s eyes darted between the two brothers now standing in front of Keeley, forming a protective
wall. A part of him respected the hell out of them for it. Another, wanted to beat the ever-loving
shit out of them for stepping between him and the woman he loved. No matter how pissed off he
was at her, he’d never hurt her. Didn’t they know that? He looked between them and settled his
gaze on Keeley’s. “How’s your arm?”
She swallowed hard, still bewildered it was halfway healed and that she wouldn’t need the brace
for long. The doctor informed her that he didn’t see any complications arising if she took care of
herself. She recalled how, once more, he was amazed by the unexplainable phenomenon. But
Keeley knew the reason behind it all, her guardian angel. And as she stared at Tar, she knew he
too received healing. Or did he? “What happened earlier?”
“Ladies first.” His annoyance coming through for having to speak to her with bodyguards
between them.
E glanced over at Nik, nodding. They stepped to the side but close enough to help if Keeley
needed it. That was not lost on Tar as he shot both a fuck-you look, earning him a deep chuckle
from the brothers. Keeley took a step closer to the bed. “It doesn’t hurt. Breaks are clean and
healing.”
“That’s odd. I would’ve thought you’d be in that brace for a good six weeks.” He angled his head
trying to figure it out.
She huffed, “Don’t look at me like that.”
His brow raised. “Like what?”
“Like I’m a freak! And what about you?” Her irritation came through loud and clear.
He reached for her hand, lightly stroking. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to make you feel foolish.”
Her other hand was gently caressing his hairline. “Your head’s okay?”
A cough interrupted them. “Listen, Tar. You promise to be a good boy?” E quirked a brow at
him.
“Yes, Dad,” Tar retorted.
Nik added, “You better.”
E chuckled and nudged Nik out of the room.
Lacey was still sitting in a chair. “Okay if I go?” she asked Keeley.
“We’re good,” Keeley replied, gazing into Tar’s amazing emeralds.
Lacey politely closed the door behind her to give them privacy.
“Come here,” Tar’s voice rumbled low as he pulled Keeley to him.
She was now on top of him looking down at his handsome face. “Are you going to explain?”
He cupped her jaw. “Just a concussion, which brought on a killer headache.”
“Why were so many people in here then?” Her fingers threading his hair.
“They thought I was a danger to myself.” He leaned up to tenderly nip along her lips.
Her breathing hitched. “More like to me.”
His tongue softly stroked the outside of her mouth. “That too.”
“And the flash back you had?” She parted her lips more to give him access.
“Common,” he growled before accepting her invitation.
With each slide of their tongues, grip of their hands, Tar and Keeley were forgiving each other.

Love mingled with need. Bodies demanding their union. Neither caring that anyone could walk in on them. The moment belonged to them and them alone.

EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN

Finding My Forever Book One

MICHELE NOTARA

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000038_00074]

BLURB:

Oh God, here he comes now. Okay, he actually greeted me. Now I need to say something… anything. Run down my internal checklist—Step One: wipe drool from mouth; I wiped my mouth; check. Step Two: open mouth and speak; say something… come on, anything… nope, I got nothing. Step Three: refer to Step One and repeat.
Sigh. This gorgeous man now thinks I’m a moron.
Of course, I know that my secret—okay, not so secret—crush, Reese Willoughby, could never have any interest in me anyway. There’s just no way that he hasn’t noticed me openly ogling him at work. I know everyone else in the office has surely seen it.
When Reese finally asks for my help with a work project, I can’t help but feel over the moon. Now I can only hope that he notices just how much I like him, because there is no way I’m about to make the first move.
***Everything In Between is the first book in the series Finding My Forever, but is a standalone novel. Each book in the series will feature a different couple, but the couples will show up throughout the series. It is approximately 100,000 words and a contemporary romance between two men with explicit language and graphic sex intended for Adults Only.***
***Please beware that there is mention of child abuse that could be a trigger for some people.***

EXCERPT:

My mother yelled, “Oh my god, you’re with him right now? That’s him isn’t it?” Apparently that didn’t require an answer because she just powered on, “Oh, Leb, he has a sexy laugh. You spent the whole weekend with him, didn’t you? I know you were with him Friday and all day yesterday. I’m so happy for you, honey; you’re finally getting some,” she announced happily.
“Mom, please,” I pleaded. I looked through my fingers at Reese. He was looking down at me, completely amused.
“Okay, you’re bringing him to my house for dinner on Saturday,” she said it like there was no other choice.
“No way.” I sat up, not looking at him. “I can’t expose him to that. He’ll run for the hills.”
“Caleb, you are bringing him to dinner on Saturday. I mean it.”
“Mom,” I whined like a little kid, “I don’t want to. You’ll scare him away.”
“Fine, put him on the phone. I want to talk to him.”
What? No,” now I was shouting.
“Caleb Michael, put him on the phone right now.”
“No way, that’s way too embarrassing, Mom. No, I can’t do it,” I told her seriously.
“I will make it so much worse for you when I meet him if you don’t put him on the phone in the next twenty seconds.” I didn’t doubt her.
I glanced at Reese who smiled and held out his hand. I mouthed, “You don’t have to,” to him, but he just shrugged, smiled and pulled the phone from my hand.
“Hello Mrs. Maher,” he said into the phone as I watched in terror. She must have lowered her voice because I couldn’t really hear her; it just sounded like mumbles.
“Yes ma’am,” he said to whatever horrible thing my mother was telling him.
“No ma’am. My mother would kill me if she heard me address you by your first name.” There was a pause. “Okay, we can make that compromise, Mrs. Ann.” He looked at me with a bright smile as he said, “I care about your son very much.” Another pause. “Yes, ma’am, I would love to… okay… Yes… No… What do you want me to bring then?”
He glanced back at me with another smile and winked. I shook my head in wonder.
He said, “Okay, Mrs. Ann… Yes, here he is.” He handed the phone back to me.
“You are unbelievable,” I said to my crazy mother.
She completely ignored me again. “So be at the house at five o’clock sharp. Dinner won’t be until six, but we can do cocktails beforehand. I’ll tell your siblings to come too. Dad had to shock the pool this morning, but it should be good to go before then, so bring your suits. We’ll swim after dinner since the heater will be on. I’ll talk to you later, Leb.”
“Um, okay,” I said at a loss for words.
“Just so you know, the next time something big happens in your life, I don’t want to be the last one to find out.”
Way to throw on the guilt. “I know, Mom. I’m sorry.”
“Okay, well I’ll let you get back to your penis loving then,” she said matter-of-factly. I groaned, Reese laughed. “At least he thinks I’m funny. I think I might actually like your boyfriend for once, Leb.” I banged my forehead a couple times on Reese’s shoulder, but on she went, “You better not be late on Saturday, okay? I love you.”
“I love you too, Mom… I think.”
“Oh shut up, I’m not that bad.”
“That’s what you think.”
“Whatever, you little ass,” she said fondly. “I’ll talk to you soon, love you.”
“I love you too.” We hung up and I kept my forehead on Reese’s shoulder so I wouldn’t have to look at him as I waited for his response to her craziness.
“Wow, she’s something else,” he sounded awed. “I can’t wait to meet her.”
I sat up, “Are you serious? You don’t want to run away? Far away?”
He chuckled. “Nope. I’m actually looking forward to meeting her.”
“Oh,” I said dumbly.
He looked at me worriedly. “I mean, I hope that’s okay. I hope you don’t feel rushed or anything. If you think it’s too soon for me to meet your parents, then maybe we can figure out some kind of excuse or something, I don’t know. But I want to make a good impression so you might have to take the blame because, you know, I really want them to like me. I mean, do you think—”
I cut him off with a kiss on his lips, then mumbled against them, “I want you to meet them. I was just afraid they would scare you off.” I placed a chaste kiss then sat back. “You heard how she is. She can be a lot to take in, but she’s really a great person. The only reason I didn’t tell her about you yet was that I didn’t want her to push and make you uncomfortable. So are you sure you’re okay with her special form of crazy?” I asked with a smile.
He smiled at me. “I would love to meet her. Are you sure you’re okay with it?”
I leaned against his lips again. “Abso-fucking-lutely.” I smiled through a sweet, slow kiss.
“Okay, good. I was scared that I just messed up right there,” he said. I rubbed his stubbled cheek with my thumb and kissed his lips softly.
I whispered while rubbing his cheek, “I like this.”
“Really?” he asked. I nodded as I continued playing with his stubble. “Maybe I’ll keep it then.”
I may have growled a little before attacking his lips. He’s just that freaking sexy. We kissed for a while before he pulled away from me looking worried. I asked him, “What’s wrong?”
He said, “What about your dad? Is he going to be okay with me?”

My god, if I have to watch one more happy couple get together, I’m going to lose it completely and probably rip out all of my awesomely pink hair. So, when I get invited to a photographer’s convention in Florida, I jump at the chance. Now I can get away from all the coupled happiness around me and surround myself with… all the photographers from back home.

EXCERPT:

Andy watched his retreat for a minute, then suddenly turned to face me. He searched my shocked face for a moment, then huffed out a loud breath, turned on his heel, and headed toward the door.
I couldn’t help myself, I followed after him. I had no fucking idea why I felt this sudden need to comfort him or get him to talk to me, but I did, so I went with it.
“Andy, wait up,” I called out as I tried to catch up.
He didn’t even pause his movement.
“Will you just wait a second? Who was that guy?” I asked as I finally reached him, though I had to follow behind.
“Stop following me,” he said quietly over his shoulder.
“Are you okay?” I asked, still walking behind him.
He stopped and looked at me. “Why do you even care?”
I shrugged. “I dunno, but I do.”
He eyed me for a long moment, his face softening, his haunting eyes filled with pain. “Please don’t,” he whispered.
I searched his face. I wanted to take that pain away, but I didn’t know how. I whispered, “What did that guy do to you?”
He huffed out another breath and asked as he walked away from me again, “Would you just leave me alone?”
Determinedly, I followed him. “No, I’m not going to leave you alone. What the hell was that about in there?”
“Stop following me,” he said through clenched teeth, getting mad again, his soft face from a moment before completely gone now.
“I’m just walking through the hotel.” I clenched my fists in annoyance. “What the hell is your problem? I’m trying to be nice. Why are you being such an asshole to me?”
“I don’t like you.” Well, at least he’s honest too.
I huffed out, “I don’t like you either, but at least I don’t act like a complete dick to you every chance I get.”
“Why are you even still talking to me?” he asked as we walked into the lobby.
“I don’t know. You’re there, so I’m talking. Don’t change the subject. What was all that back there? Why’d you go off on that guy like that, huh?”
His jaw clenched, but he didn’t say anything.
“Are you incapable of answering my question?”
His jaw somehow clenched even further.
“Oh, I see, now that you have to face me, you have nothing to say. So fucking typical. Every time I walk by, you have plenty of snide remarks to sneer out at me, but now you’re quiet. What the hell, asshole? Did you think I couldn’t hear you every time you said derogatory comments at my expense over the past few years?” I overemphasized the last word because he pissed me off.
“Are you capable of keeping your mouth shut for more than five seconds?” His face was turning red, probably from all of the jaw clenching.
I shrugged. “I have a lot to say. You going to tell me what was going on back there?”
“Can you please just leave me alone?”
“Seriously, dude? If you would just talk to me—or something maybe I would leave you alone afterwards. It’s not hard, just open your mouth and sounds come out. You should try it.”
“Just stop.”
“Nope.” I popped the ‘p’ to annoy him further and grinned.
He rolled his eyes. “You are incredibly annoying.”
“It’s my specialty. Tell me. Was that guy your ex or something? How do you know him? He seemed like a total dick, by the way. I thought I was gonna have to jump in there for a second, but then, when he sa—”
“Please. Stop. Talking,” he ground out angrily.
“Why? You afraid if you have a real conversation with me that you might actually like me?” I asked.
He stopped walking and faced me. “Just shut the hell up!”
I stopped next to him. “Make me,” I challenged with narrowed eyes.
“Maybe I will,” he yelled. I could practically see the anger burning red-hot on his skin and climbing up his neck.
“Oh yeah? How the fuck do you think you’re gonna do that?!” I shouted back.
He growled angrily and before I had time to react, he had ahold of my shoulders and his mouth was crashing into mine with so much force that I stumbled backwards, but he steadied me with his strong hands, not allowing me to fall. When I gasped in surprise, he forced his tongue into my mouth and I hungrily met it with my own. I fisted his shirt in my hands between us and moaned. Low and loud.
That sound seemed to snap him out of it because he broke the kiss, jerking his head back, and stared at me with a shock ridden look on his stupid, handsome face. He seemed just as surprised by the kiss as I felt. He just stared at me for a moment, his hands still gripping my shoulders.
Of course I couldn’t keep my mouth shut. “Well, that’s one way to go about it.”
He growled—or maybe groaned—and released me, then turned on his heel and walked away.
I shouted after him, “Next time, maybe lead with that!”
He flipped me the bird over his head as he walked out the door.
I ran a hand over my face before turning to head back up to my room, but was stopped by the sound of Miranda’s voice. “That was really hot.”
I rolled my eyes at her and spat out, “Yeah, whatever.” Then I walked right past her before she could start questioning me and—god, no—asking me about my feelings—again. I shuddered at the thought as I climbed into the elevator.
I didn’t leave my room the rest of the night because I couldn’t stop replaying that kiss in my head. It was hot as fuck and if I was being honest with myself, it lit up my entire body… and it had only lasted a few seconds. I couldn’t stop imagining what it would be like if we kissed for longer than that—and in other places. Dammit, it made my whole body tingle just thinking about it. How could that ass of a man make me feel that way? What a dick.

FALLING IN TIME

A Finding My Forever Short Story

MICHELE NOTARO

BLURB:

Watching him dance from that stage is mesmerizing. He is beyond gorgeous. Too bad I freeze every single time he tries to speak to me. If I could just talk to him, maybe I could… ugh, who am I kidding? He would never go for someone like me when he looks like, well, like that.

I’m a nervous wreck when I get roped into going out with Ezra and the other dancers, but somehow Ezra makes me feel more comfortable and I slowly start to let him in. Turns out, he’s not just a sexy dancer; he’s a sweet guy too.

When the two men connect, will Jamie be able to open himself up to what Ezra is offering, or will he let the fear of rejection and heartbreak ruin what could be?

***Falling in Time is a standalone short story, but takes place in the Finding My Forever world, so some of the characters may have cameos. It’s approximately 16,000 words and a contemporary romance between two men with explicit language and graphic sex intended for Adults Only.***

MICHELE NOTARO

Michele is married to an awesome husband that puts up with her and all the characters in her head—and there are many. They live together in Baltimore, Maryland with their two young boys and two crazy dogs. She grew up dancing and swimming and taught dance—ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, & modern—for ten years before her kids came along. Now she stays home to write about the sexy men in her head and does PTA everything—as long as coffee is involved. Two other tattooed moms run the PTA with her, and though she wants to rip her hair out from it, she still loves it.

Nate~

With the world in chaos around us, the only thing I could do was try to keep Felix safe as we searched for our older brother. We’d been traveling for over two years, searching Ministry camp after Ministry camp and trying to steer clear of the Rebels. I didn’t know what to do when we ran into a whole group of shifters with guns. But then, the huge, gorgeous guy that found us did the unthinkable…

Tre~

At first I thought the two young shifters were trying to sneak up on me, but I soon realized they were only passing through. I was going to send them on their way until I heard the others coming. What was I supposed to do? How else was I supposed to save them? The delicious man and his brother would’ve been killed had I not claimed him.

Will Nate and Tre be able to work together to keep themselves and their packmates alive? Or will they let the cruelty of the outside world tear them apart?

***How We Survive is the first book in the Reclaiming Hope series, but is a standalone novel. Each book in the series will feature a different couple, but the couples will show up throughout the series. It’s a paranormal shifter romance between two men with explicit language and graphic sex intended for Adults Only.***

EXCERPT:

Nate

He was still walking about fifty feet in front of me when I heard footsteps coming from the direction we were walking towards. I stopped and whispered, “Felix.”
He didn’t stop walking, but he did glance over his shoulder at me. It was then that I knew he had heard it too, but was going towards the footsteps anyway. I started to freak out and took off running towards him. I would pick him up and carry him if I had to. He may be a full grown wolf now, but I was a shifter so it was doable.
When Felix heard me running, he took off so fast on four legs, there was no chance of me catching up unless he stopped or at least slowed down. I silently cursed in my head over and over while I debated shifting or not. If I shifted, we would lose our ability to communicate if we came across the person making those footsteps, and the reality was that we would be coming across this person since Felix was running right for them.
I watched in horror as Felix ran into the same building that I knew the mystery person was in. I could smell him—a shifter—in there and my little brother was running right to him. I pushed myself harder, making myself run even faster.
I heard a deep voice—calm but filled with acid, “Shift right now.” I ran, I was almost to the house now as the voice said, “Shift now or I’ll shoot.”
I heard a gun being cocked and had to fight the bile coming up my throat. The voice was louder now, more angry, “You have five seconds before I pull the trigger. Five… Four… Three…”
I ran up the porch steps and pushed through the front door of the house, just as the voice said, “Two…”
“No! Don’t shoot,” I yelled as I ran into the room. I jumped in front of my brother with my hands raised defensively, yelling, “Don’t shoot! He’s just a kid!”
A very large man with brown hair, chocolate-brown eyes, and a beard, had a rifle pointing right at me. His eyes were roaming over me, taking me in, calculating, and making me even more uncomfortable and terrified than I already was. He lifted his nose a little, taking a deep breath. I had no doubt that he could smell my fear. I was mildly offended with myself that I found the man’s scent pleasant.
“Please. Do whatever you want with me, but just let my brother go,” I begged.
The man continued to stare at me, but I noticed that his gun moved down a little. “Who are you?” he eventually asked.
I didn’t know what he wanted, so I just said, “Nate. And my brother is Felix.”
The man scented the air again and started to lower the gun a little. “Ministry or Rebel? And remember that I can smell if you’re lying.”
“Neither. We don’t want anything to do with your war,” I said truthfully. My older brother and parents may have been involved, but that didn’t mean we had to be.
After another sniff, the man lowered his weapon so it was pointing to the ground. He looked me up and down, making chills break out all over my body as he asked me, “What are you doing here?”
“We’re just passing through,” also true. We were always just passing through since we didn’t have a home or any place to go anymore.
“Where are you headed?”
“Nowhere, really,” I said. It was a partial truth that I was praying I could get away with. Some shifters wouldn’t be able to smell the difference between a partial truth and a whole truth and I was praying that this man was one of them.
Of course I couldn’t be that lucky if the way his eyes narrowed was any indication, but for some reason he didn’t call me out on it. Instead he said, “My team is circling the entire town. I don’t know if you can get out undetected.”
“Wait. Are you letting us go?” I sounded surprised to my own ears.
His brows furrowed, “Of course. I’ll try to help—” he stopped talking because we both heard voices off in the distance. But if we could hear them, then they could hear us too. Crap.
The man took a step closer to me and I instantly tensed up. He kept eye contact as he lowered his gun to the ground, then straightened back up and took another step closer. I was still tense and poor Felix was leaning into my legs like his life depended on it, which it probably did.
The guy took another step and whispered so quietly I could barely hear him, “I’m not going to hurt you, but you need to follow my lead.”
I didn’t move a muscle. I couldn’t comprehend what he meant by that.
He continued his slow movements towards me, whispering, “If the others find you, they will kill you.”
Felix and I both stepped away from him and my heart felt like it was going to beat out of my chest. I started breathing heavily despite the fact that I was trying to keep quiet.
The guy was almost toe to toe with me as he said, “I’m not going to let anyone hurt you.” He glanced at Felix, “Either of you,” he amended. The voices outside were slowly getting closer.
He slowly raised his hand and placed it on my shoulder. I instantly relaxed at the touch even though I didn’t even know him. I had absolutely no reason to trust this man, but something was telling me that I could. I was mildly horrified with myself when I realized I had actually started to lean into his touch.
The man whispered, even quieter than before, “I’m going to pull you to me. I need to mask the scent of fear. Try to calm down so it doesn’t get any worse.” Easier said than done.
He looked into my eyes and I could tell that he was waiting for confirmation, so I gave a slight nod before he wrapped his arms around my shoulders and pulled me against his chest. The guy was nearly a whole head taller than me and I was just about six foot tall. He was a giant. And he was pretty freaking built, I noticed as my cheek found his shoulder. I could feel and smell the guy throwing out very, very strong pheromones. It was strange being scented by a non-packmate, but he smelled so good that I almost didn’t care. Which I should… you don’t just go around scenting people unless they’re pack.
The guy leaned down and placed his mouth over my ear, his beard tickling my neck, “I need you to push your face into my neck and wrap your arms around me. I’m sorry, but I don’t know how else to help.”
I nodded against him, but instead went up on my toes to whisper in his ear, “What about Felix?”
The guy pulled back to look at me and he cringed, but nodded and I instantly felt and smelled him pick up the pheromone discharge. He was lucky he smelled good, woodsy almost. I felt him push my head back down with one hand, so I took the hint and pressed my forehead to his neck and took a deep breath. His beard wasn’t very long, but I could still feel it scratching the side of my face. He kept his hand on the back of my head; not pressing me down, but just telling me not to move.
After another thirty seconds, a voice called from outside the house, “Tre, you still in there?”
“Yeah,” the man—Tre—called out.
“Do you need help or some—”
I heard two sets of footsteps come into the same room we were standing in. Tre still had his hand on the back of my head, so I took that as meaning he didn’t want these people to see my face, or at least not yet. I pressed a little harder into Tre’s neck, taking what little comfort I could from this complete stranger.
“Who the hell is this?” A new voice demanded. He did not sound happy—at all.
The sound of even more footsteps in the distance made my pulse ricochet even more.

Tre

I looked right at a very angry-looking Ira and said, “My mate and his brother.” Because I was putting off such strong pheromones, I was praying that he wouldn’t be able to smell the lie. And it was a lie, despite the fact that I felt some kind of weird draw to the man I currently held in my arms. I felt the guy’s—Nate’s—breath leave him in a huff against my neck. He had to be surprised by what I’d just said. I was mentally cringing, but I didn’t let it show.
I saw Patty’s eyebrows shoot up to his hairline, but he knew better than to say anything. We were both fully aware of who else was on this mission with us.

Excerpt:

The shift in Landon was pressing against her chest like an anvil. Gone were all traces of the man she’d come to really like. He took rude and bossy to a whole new level. Worse than how he’d been when she first arrived. The more she contemplated it, the more she felt this was her doing, deciding she would go out of her way to be kind. After all, he was between a rock and a hard place, thanks to her. Seemed the least she could do was show a little compassion for his plight.
“I’ve got the dishes. You cooked,” he grumbled, taking the sponge from her hand.
“I don’t mind. It’s therapeutic,” she assured.
His glare made her check to see if she had something gross on her shirt. Her inspection came back clear. “Are you mad at me for something?” Stupid question! She scrunched her eyes tight waiting for the verbal blow to confirm her suspicions. Instead of pointing out the obvious, regarding her idiocy, he ignored her completely. And truth was, that made it worse. She tried again, “I’m sorry me being here has caused problems.”
His gaze bore into hers. “Little late for that.”
She gasped, “Oh my God! You’re blaming me.”
His shrug was anything but casual. “You ran into trouble and came here for help. Now your aunt is threatening to take my daughter. Explain how that has nothing to do with you.”
She struggled hard not to tell him to take a flying leap off the highest cliff he could find. “I’m sorry for any inconvenience I’ve caused you.”
“Don’t do that, Bliss,” he warned.
“Apologize?”
“That. But it’s more, and you know it.”
“Really. How about you go ahead and explain me to me!” Her hands on her hips as she stared him down. To hell with trying to be nice. She was sorry, but now, he’d crossed a line.
His laugh held a trace of cruelty. “You came here because you wanted to see me,” he dared her to deny it.
“Why are you doing this?” She stepped closer.
“Go ahead and lie to my face. Women in your family have been doing it for years.”
“Answer my question,” she demanded.
“Because I’m a dick. Thought you were in the loop on that one.”
She stood so close that his body heat was penetrating her skin. Oh, Lord have mercy, electricity danced from the almost touch. “I did want to see you.” The whispered confession blew across his neck.
He reached into the sink, and suddenly she screamed from the onslaught of a pan full of water dumped over her head. “That should cool you off,” he declared with a smugness to his tone that unleashed her fury.
Snatching a bowl, she threw soapy water in his face. “Tit for tat.”
He blinked rapidly from the sting, notching up his anger, he growled, “Hand me a towel.”
“Get it your fucking self,” she snarled, leaving the kitchen.

An Introduction to MICHELE NOTARO#FosteranAuthor#FAA3#

BANNER AUTHOR EVENT

Hi, my name is Michele Notaro and I write gay romance novels. I’ve published contemporary, paranormal, and sci-fi books.

I’ve always loved all things magic and mysterious, so naturally I’m drawn to paranormal and sci-fi books, TV shows, and movies. I like being taken out of reality and thrown into a new world filled with magic and mystery and sometimes even terror. I love the adventure of it and the rollercoaster ride of the characters’ journey. I also adore how a lot of these books take different people or creatures and bring them together to solve a problem. I love watching different characters grow and the adventurers become a family, even when they start out as strangers in the beginning.

The main thing I love to read about is the relationships between people. I don’t just mean romantically, either, though that is a big one. I want to read about the friendships, the sibling relationships, parents and kids, etc. So that’s one thing I try to keep in all my books, interesting relationships, and of course lots of romance. I love love.

When I started my Taoree Trilogy, I basically took a bunch of different themes that I enjoy and put them together in a way that made sense. I like dystopian and apocalyptic stories, I like aliens, and I like zombies, so that’s what you get with Taoree. A little bit of everything. I like to call it my apocalyptic, alien, kind-of zombie book. Which, admittedly, sounds a little crazy, but I swear it makes sense.

If you give any of my books a try, I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them!

Taoree - Amazon Cover[102485].jpg book 1

BLURB:

Taoree: Taoree Trilogy #1:
http://myBook.to/Taoree1

If you’re reading this, I hope that means that we’ve survived, but after everything I’ve seen, I’m sure that’s only wishful thinking…

This is my story… a story of what happens when you trust an alien race. A race that lived peacefully with humans for over two years, but something suddenly changed. When all hell breaks loose, can we count on the Taoree to step up and help or could they be the real cause of all the terror?

Three of my friends and I try to make our way back home to our families, but there’s chaos at every turn. We can trust no one; we only rely on each other. And even though we work together, nothing can stop the heartbreak and terror that surrounds us.

Before you judge me, ask yourself this: When there’s danger at every turn and nowhere safe to hide, what would you do to keep you and yours alive? Some of us won’t survive… What will happen to those of us that are left behind?

Taoree is Book One in the Taoree Trilogy and is meant to be read as part of a series. This book ends on a cliffhanger, but there is a promise of a happy ending at the end of the trilogy.

***WARNING: This book is recommended for ADULTS ONLY. It is rather gruesome, so if you don’t like violence, death, blood, and the like, don’t read it. There’s also explicit language, as well as romance and graphic sexual content between two male characters.***

EXCERPT:

We walked for half the day without running into anyone. Well, there were plenty of dead bodies strewn throughout yards, hanging out of cars, and just about every other place you could think of. My tolerance of the dead had grown quite exponentially since the finger incident that morning.

Around midday, I stopped walking when I saw a little movement across the street in a large field up ahead. When I pointed it out, the guys and I walked cautiously closer. If it was someone that needed our help, we couldn’t simply walk away.

I stopped short when I figured out what I was seeing.

“Is she eating him?” Nolan whispered from somewhere close by.

“It… it looks like it,” Cal mumbled. There was a woman crouched down on top of a dead man and she was, well, she was eating his guts.

“Oh god. I’m gonna be sick… again,” Nolan said.

The Feral snapped her head up in our direction and suddenly sprinted toward us with blood dripping out of her mouth. She started getting faster, running at full speed, so I took the gun out of my waistband and held it out.

“Stop or I’ll shoot,” I called to her. Even though I knew it wouldn’t make a difference, I had to at least try. She was still—sort of—a human being.

She kept running, so I aimed for her chest and pulled the trigger. I missed the first shot—it had been a while since our dads had taken us shooting—but I re-aimed and took the shot, this time hitting her in the chest. But she didn’t stop, she just stumbled back from the force, then took off running again.

I shot her in the chest three more times, but nothing was bringing her down. When she was less than ten feet away I yelled, “We might wanna run now.”

I took a step back, but Cal came out of nowhere, stepping in front of me and swinging the metal bat with two hands at the Feral’s head. He knocked her down, but she was still twitching, so he swung the bat again, crushing her skull into the ground with a sickening thunk. He hit her head twice more, making that same thunk sound each time.

Cal turned to me with blood splatters on his hands, arms, and face, and said, “Next time, aim for the head. Haven’t you ever seen a zombie movie?”

Then he walked away a few steps, bent over and vomited. I guess we were all entitled to a little vomit when the situation warranted. I chose not to look at Colt or Nolan’s faces in case they were feeling as sick as I was.

When Cal was done being sick, I walked over and handed him a water bottle, which he took gratefully as I said, “But they’re not zombies.”

“I know that. But whatever those alien assholes are doing to people, obviously makes them harder to kill.” He shrugged, then examined his bat. He wrinkled his nose. “I’m gonna wipe this off in the grass.”

I nodded at his back when he walked away, but called to him, “Thanks for saving me.”
He waved me off. “No prob.”

Colt walked over to me, looking a little green around the gills and said, “I think we need more bats.”

All I could do was nod and grimace as we watched his brother trying to wipe the gore off his weapon. When he finished, he swung the bat up to rest on his shoulder, then walked past us without a word. He probably needed some time to deal with the fact that he’d just killed a person.

Colt and I followed him, but I turned to make sure Nolan was okay. I nodded at him to join us, so he came up on the other side of me, the three of us following behind Cal.

After a while, Nolan asked, “Why do you think it was eating that guy?”

I didn’t have an answer to that, but Colt said, “I guess the Ferals are getting hungry. Or maybe the Taoree ordered them to do it or something. Who knows?”

“Let’s just not think about it,” I suggested.

No one objected to that. There was enough horror to distract us everywhere we looked, anyway.

A minute later, I felt Colt place his hat on my head, and when I looked at him questioningly, he said, “You’re getting sunburned.”

“Thanks,” I said as I reached up to place it back on his head, “but now you’ll get burned too, so take it back.”

“No can do, my friend,” he said, pushing the proffered hat away from himself. “You may as well as wear it, Jeremy, because I’ll just put it in my bag if you give it back.”

I rolled my eyes, but conceded by putting it back on and mumbling, “You’re fucking stubborn.”

He just winked at me.

A couple of hours later, we were in a very crowded, city-like area where there were masses of dead bodies. It seemed like the people here didn’t have much warning to get away before the Ferals and aliens started massacring them. There was a ton of blood, body parts… and so many dead eyes.

Independents: Taoree Trilogy #2:
http://myBook.to/IndependentsT2

All I’ve wanted to do is keep my family safe. All I’ve wanted was to protect them from the evils of the world… but I’ve failed. I’ve failed so badly, and now all of them are suffering… I’m suffering…

We’ve lost so many, and now that we’ve lost one of our own, I don’t know how to keep going. I don’t know how to protect them anymore. But I need to stay strong, I need to keep fighting because I would rather die than let another one of my family members get hurt.

We need to get to the Taoree Independents camp in order to save my brother. Supposedly they can protect us from all the turmoil, and they have tools to help Wes… or at least that’s what Orrean says. He also says that they want to fight back, but I don’t see how we could ever fight back against all of the monsters that have taken over our world.

Put yourself in my shoes and tell me there’s a better way. Tell me there’s a better option to save my brother, to keep my family safe. If you made it to that camp, would you just cower and hide, or would you stand up and fight back?

Independents is Book Two in the Taoree Trilogy and is meant to be read as part of a series.

Both these Books are on Kindle Unlimited at the moment while fans are impatiently waiting for the final installment in this Trilogy.
