REVIEW:

This may a novella, but with so much action packed in it feels more like a full novel. I have a soft spot for Dragons so this is a must read for me. Things are looking bleak for the Dragon Kings so they wake up Dorian and send him to New York to get an artifact from American socialite Alexandra Sheridan.
The moment they meet the chemistry is hot, and poor Dorian doesn’t know hits him. Alex  falls for Dorian  and wants nothing more than to help Dorian.
So I loved every minute of this great paranormal love story with a side dose action in the Kings war against the evil that is trying to wipe out all the dragons. I can’t recommend this novella enough as it gives you a slice of the Dark Kings Series.

Excerpt:

I’m sending you to get this artifact, Dorian. We’re no’ thieves. Unless we have no other choice. I’d like to see if you can buy it from the mortal first. If that doesna work, then get it any way you can.”

Dorian watched as Con turned on his heel and walked from the cavern. He might not have been involved in the many battles or daily machinations of the ongoing conflicts with their enemies, but that didn’t mean Dorian hadn’t felt the anger and desolation when his brethren had lost or the contentment and delight when they won.

In every word Con uttered while detailing everything, Dorian perceived his worry, his unease. But more than that, Dorian felt the fear that ran through Dreagan at their new nemesis.

Whoever this band of Dark and Light Fae and drough and mie Druid, their first strike had been substantial. The ramifications of the Kings touching the wooden dragon still caused ripples, and likely would for some time.

Dorian rolled his shoulders. His muscles were stiff from his time sleeping. Whether in dragon or human form, he needed to remember who he was.

He’d be happy to remain in his true form forever, but his King called for him. And that meant Dorian was going to have to interact with the very beings he wanted to wipe from the realm.

Slowly, he walked to the water. His enhanced eyesight didn’t need the aid of any light as he peered over the edge to look at himself.

As soon as he saw his face, he cringed and jerked back. He wasn’t prepared for this. But there wasn’t time for him to get ready.

Dorian blew out a breath. The last time he had been outside his mountain was after he watched his dragons cross the dragon bridge to a new realm and helped to bind Ulrik’s magic.

He’d been inconsolable, his world shattered in the space of a heartbeat. Everything he’d loved, everything he’d lived for had been taken from him. Viciously. Cruelly.

Ruthlessly.

Con had brought him to his mountain because Con knew if Dorian was left alone that he would finish what Ulrik had begun.

There wasn’t a day that went by that Dorian didn’t dream of his life before the humans.

Or plot their demise.

Now Con wanted him out in the world. Dorian would get what was needed to battle their new foes, but every chance he got, he would take out a mortal.

They didn’t belong on this realm. It wasn’t theirs. It belonged to the dragons.

And the dragons would take it back.

Soon. Very soon.

Dear Mister…**strike out** no, too formal.

Hey there sweet cheeks *strike out* no, too forward.

To whom it may concern,

Full disclosure; before we move forward with this email, I would like it to be known that I have consumed an adequate amount of alcoholic beverages to intoxicate myself tonight. Three margaritas, two shots, and one beer—because it was free.

I think it’s important to be open and honest with your co-workers, don’t you?

So here I am, being honest. Drunk but honest. Or just drunk with lust? You decide.

I like you so much it’s clouding my judgment and making me do things I never would sober. Like write this letter.

I have a hopeless, foolish, schoolgirl crush on you when you are the last person on earth I should be falling for. Did you know people around the office call you a sadist? An egomaniac. An insensitive, arrogant prick. Your bark is worse then your bite, and you don’t scare me. The fact is, I’d love that bite of yours to nip at my bare skin while we’re both wearing nothing but sheets.

For once I want you to look at me as more than one of your employees.

And as long as we’re being honest, that navy blue suit you wear? With the crisp white shirt? It really makes me want to loosen your tie and show you who’s boss.

Love,

Sincerely,

Yours.

SNEEK PEAK

I open the company messenger app on my phone and scroll through the executive names, knowing full well I’m about to break a policy. It’s the company’s phone, and the company’s app, and I’m about to use it for personal use. To flirt.

With my boss.

I close my eyes, find his name—next to it is a little, green dot, which means. . .

He’s on the app.

I’ve never talked to him live before so this is a huge step, but then again, it might be more fun to get his initial reactions to my comments.

Debating it for all but two seconds, I type out a message to him, making sure I’m signed on under my LSY persona.

HandsRomingMyBody: Hey you.

My text turns into a new message on the app and I wait on bated breath to see if he will respond. Nerves prickle up my spine, my fingers feeling numb, my mind playing mutiny with my heart just as little dots appear letting me know he’s typing.

Oh God, I don’t think I’ve been more excited.

REVIEW:

I really loved this book and especially Peyton who has an unrequited attraction to her boss. Rome her boss has no idea Peyton exists, when he whole concentration is totally on the business he built from the ground.
That is until she hands in her notice, as she is starting her own business. Hoping for some work as a consultant, with no luck. While working her notice Rome finds out how irreplaceable she is.
After drinking too much at her leaving do, she decides to send him a message or more of a drunken proposition with the theme being “I want to bang you” the phrase that keeps going through Rome’s brain.
At first Rome is appalled, but then he can’t help responding. So the dance begins, as Rome soon realises what an integral part of his marketing Peyton was. Rome becomes obsessed with communicating with handsroamingmybody. This is a slow burn kind of romance, but once on the go gets very hot and Rome becomes quite swoony. Rome is a not a ladies man, devoting himself to his business. His best friend and business partner Hunter is the only person he could talk to. When he was with Peyton she could see through him and knew what he wanted. A really enjoyable read and can’t wait for hunter’s book which hopefully is coming soon.
A Great writing duo has been born and I can’t wait for more.

Meet Meghan Quinn

Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She is known to bust out and dance if “It’s Raining Men” starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped.

Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing… enter her first novel, Caught Looking.

Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Oh and she loves a good boob squeeze!

BLURB:

I was a self-appointed bachelor and happy to have the title. Everyone thought it was time for me to settle down and find a nice girl. Well, no thank you. This cowboy wanted to stay clear of relationships. I wanted the freedom that came with no strings.

But what did I know? Nothing apparently.

Everything changed when I looked into her green eyes; my world tilted when she smiled at me.

What was this feeling?

Whatever was happening had me losing my damn mind. I fumbled with my words. My body wasn’t my own. I wanted her … desperately.

Was I ready to give up my bachelor days, or was this Irish girl simply an itch I needed scratched?

REVIEW:

Wow this time it was Cord’s turn to be Smurfed and meet the love of his life Maebh.
When a new Irish Restaurant comes to town, Maebh came with it. A dark haired green eyed siren has come to town and Cord is smitten. I really enjoyed this trip to Texas to visit with the Parker family.
I think this is one of my favourite visits watching Cord fall in love and trying to get to grips with it was very entertaining. I have to say the sex was hot and Cord was so swoony I’m still trying to cool down.
Great catching up with the rest of the family, and a side trip to Ireland. All in all I thoroughly enjoyed the visit and can’t wait for Trevor story in 2019.This is part of a series, it can be read on its on but for greater enjoyment its best read in order. This is a great series and told in alternate points of view, which is one of my favourite ways to read. I can thoroughly recommend this entertaining series.

Author: Rik Stone

Narrator: Bob Sterry

Length: 6 hours and 13 minutes

Publisher: Silver Publishing

Released: July 31, 2018

Genre: Short Stories & Anthologies

It seemed more than a little odd that he might meet someone exactly like his ex and on the first night he’d been out since being dumped for bad behavior. If he could get to show her his other side, things might be a little different this time around. But was that likely after what he said in the first two minutes of meeting her?

Jon loved Sally unconditionally, and them keeping him from her was tearing him apart. But they seemed to have complete control over him. How could he possibly turn things around?

Three sisters arrive in a new country. The last thing they expected was to end up on the wrong side of an interrogation table, but does it turn out to be what they’d always hoped for?

Widowed several years earlier, Annie’s mom cajoled her into starting again, but the world seemed so different now, and there were those who were out to separate her from her money. She wanted to crawl back to the comfort of her self-imposed life of a hermit but that wouldn’t be fair on those worse off than her. The detective she hires to get to the bottom of the problem is really quite a dish, but she had to remember, he was only working for her.

Melanie has a schoolgirl crush on Joe Romano, and when he asks her out, she is more than excited. But he lets her down, and she cries all the way home, swearing never to speak to him again. Six years later, their working lives cross paths. Joe has always carried a torch for Melanie and does everything he can to make up for his boyhood stupidity. Is it too late?

Narrator Bio

Bob Sterry is a voice over actor, audiobook narrator, writer, singer, occasional stage actor and humorist. Originally trained in England as a research analytical chemist, he immigrated into the United States in 1973 working as a wine waiter in New Jersey, a steel yard fork lift truck driver in Connecticut, before spending a professional career in the marketing of scientific instruments and services in New Jersey, Hong Kong and around the world.

It was not until he started writing short articles, essays and poetry in the nineties that his creative talents found an outlet, reading poetry at open mics. and began to sing seriously in choirs and extemporaneous groups. In 1999 he and his wife Anne-Louise Sterry, a well-known speaker, singer and storyteller, founded a short lived but much loved faux cowboy wannabe band, ‘Anne-Louise and the Cascade Urban Cowboys’. Discovering his on stage talent he took the step to starting his own show of songs and spoken word. His singing is cabaret satire with Broadway and the English Musical Hall grinning in the wings with an occasional nod to the classical style. Recent shows were ‘The Bob Sterry Atomic Summer Show’ and ‘The Book of Bob’, and ‘A Sterry Sterry Night’ with Anne-Louise Sterry. Adding voice over acting was an obvious step, and thanks to voice coach Lesley Bailey and recording genius Marc Rose at FuseAudio Design Bob offers his voice to anyone who needs it. Bob continues to write poetry and essays reflecting very much his cabaret style, with excursions into more serious commentary on life, humor and outright comedy. Hi collection of essays, short stories and poetry ‘The Bob Sterry School of Burglary’ will be published in September. By the way he is passionate about cycling, cooking, language and literature.

This a collection of romantic interludes based in different decades, countries and situations with love as the same theme running through them. The one thing in I enjoyed with the Interludes was the ability to listen or read your favourites over and over. In each story we always a beginning and a happy end. I loved the various ages of the each couple, so we know life is not over at thirty. The last one which has Joe Romano in it was a great surprise for me as I was born and grew up in Southend, Essex, England so listening to the story was a great walk down memory lane.

Bob Sterry is the narrator and with his clear English voice he managed to keep my mind in the  stories Rik Stone has woven for our enjoyment. Especially as we popped through different decades and locations.

The Way We Were

Jon: A gentle soul, Jon had been bullied from day one at school … but not for long. While placid, he was also strong willed and took it upon himself to step up to the challenge. Waiting for one of the bigger boys to pick on him, he threw himself into attack. The beating he got made him wish he hadn’t bothered, but suddenly the bullying stopped. He’d always thought that day of rebellion had given him a strong character. Maybe, but life wandered on devoid of prospects and he aged without a direction, until he met Sally. It wasn’t as if he hadn’t been out with girls, in that department he was much the same as any other man, but with Sally it had taken but a single date to know she was the one. Only months after that night out they married, and something in him changed. He wanted to become a somebody, show Sally he’d been worth the risk. Normally, thinking of opportunity as being for someone else, he never put himself forward … for anything. But now he had Sally. Putting in a lot of hard work, a chance presented itself and he jumped in with both feet. Time brought further promotions and their financial life moved into the comfort zone. With a little money behind him and having the love of his life by his side, Jon felt blessed. He’d found his Shangri-La.

Sally: From childhood life had been sweet for Sally. Not because everything was easy and ran smoothly, more that she’d  had a contented spirit and readily accepted things as they were. And she had a passive influence on people, at least, those she was close to. They seemed to strive for something better and it was clear from their words, the sway was because of her. Hard to fathom why, maybe they were in search of the place she’d found. It wasn’t that she’d lacked ambition or drive, merely that she was content with every level she attained. A blind date through mutual friends and Jon came into her life. She came close to pulling out; it really wasn’t her thing, but she’d made the arrangement and she wasn’t one to back on her word. Strange, she thought she knew him already, but no way had they ever met. Over the course of the evening, he said so many things that were totally at odds with what she believed, so why hadn’t she walked away? She would have done so with anyone else, but there was something about him that had stopped her. He was different and she could feel that his words were no more than fluff and that he’d ventured down a road of no return in order to impress. After that night there was no looking back and subsequent dates proved his blabbering had been no more than that. She fell in love with Jon and everything else in life paled into insignificance.

Out of the Ashes

Irina: Born in Poland, Irina came to Britain to study English and hoped to get a job where she would earn enough to send home to her family. With a poor command of English and not knowing anyone in the community, she made searches for local Polish groups. An older woman she met there said she could put a word in for her and it was from that she got a job as a waitress in a wine bar in West London. She met a boy called Edi who worked in the kitchens as a dishwasher, an Albanian who was very sure of himself for one so young. In a short time, she moved in with him and things changed. He became dominant and stopped her attending college. He took her wages which left her unable to send money to her mother in Poland. The wine bar closed and she became a financial burden on Edi, so he passed her on to a Polish commune in East London. In a short time, they had her stealing, committing credit card fraud, shoplifting, and evenings she was hired out as a personal hostess. The men easily controlled her by saying they had people in Poland who would bring harm to her mother.

Author Rik Stone: I’ve asked Trudi along for a chat. She’s a relatively small part player in the short story, Out of the Ashes, from the audiobook The Way We Were. A lifelong friend of our heroine, Annie, I thought she might give us an objective view of her situation.

Rik: Welcome, Trudi, thank you for coming along. Your relationship with Annie seems enduring. What do you put that down to?

Trudi: I don’t actually put it down to anything … Or maybe it’s because we’ve known each other since play school. Yes, I’ve never really given it any thought, but that would be it. We met, we played together and we’ve been inseparable ever since. Well, up until her husband died, that is.

Rik: You must be quite close to Annie’s mum?

Trudi: Funny enough, more so since Richard died. Annie had switched off from life and her mum and I were in constant contact, waiting for the right time to turn Annie’s lights back on.

Rik: After your own mum passed, the two of you must have become even closer? Has she become like a second mum to you?

Trudi: No, no one could replace my mum… I’ve been close to her because of my friendship with Annie, but that’s as far as the friendship goes.

Rik: Okay, let’s hurry past that one. I believe you knew Richard quite well before he died, what would your opinion of him be had he not been married to your best friend?

Trudi: I loved Richard because he was besotted with Annie and treated her so well. The four of us, Annie, Richard, me and Jim, used to go out regularly. I can’t remember what I thought of him at first, but he also became like a best friend over time.

Rik: So you got along with him on a personal level?

Trudi: Yes, I did and he and Jim were good mates, so everything fell together like a jigsaw.

Rik: Then you, too, must have taken it badly when he died?

Trudi: Very much so. Apart from the shock of it happening, I was heartbroken for a multitude of other reasons. Annie and Jim’s loss alone broke me up.

Rik: Did the fact that you were grieving his death and Annie walking out of your life have an effect on how you felt about her?

Trudi: I’d be lying to say I wasn’t hurt, but I know her so well and closing down would have been the only way she could cope with life. I understood, so the hurt was secondary.

Rik: Why were you so keen she should get into another relationship?

Trudi: I don’t know, Annie’s happiness means a lot to me, but I suppose I also had selfish reasons; I’d love a new man to bring us back to being a foursome, bring back the closeness that was there when Richard was alive. And no, don’t ask, I feel no guilt over those thoughts whatsoever.

Rik: Oh, right, actually, I was about to ask that. Okay, Annie says you go into London on a regular basis. That you’ve traveled in together and separate in the city. You never reveal why. Would you like to share that with us now?

Trudi: No. I wouldn’t.

Rik: What does your husband Jim feel about Annie? Does he get jealous of your relationship?

Trudi: Jealous, hah, not at all. He loves her in the same way I loved Richard. We were all terribly close.

Thank you, Trudi, I’ve enjoyed chatting with you. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that everything works out the way you’d like.

Narrator Bio

The daughter of a cattle rancher, Pam Almand grew up in the tiny town of Brush, Colorado. Her dad, a former Air Force fighter pilot, sparked her interest in flying, and after graduating Colorado State University in 2 1/2 years with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, Pam took a flying lesson “just for fun.”

That first lesson turned into a lifelong passion, and one month later she had her Private Pilot’s License. Though there were no female pilots in the airline industry at that time, she set that as her career goal. In 1976, Pam started a small aircraft ferry service to build flight time and in that capacity, delivered new and used aircraft all over the world, including two-seat Cessna 150s she flew solo across the Atlantic!

Pam was the first woman flight test pilot for Cessna Aircraft Company’s multi-engine turbo-prop and jet division and eventually became the company’s national spokeswoman for their Learn To Fly programs.

Her dream was finally realized when she was hired by Northwest Airlines and began a career which spanned the globe, on aircraft from the Convair 580 all the way to captain of the Boeing 747 flying Asia and Europe routes. Pam had over 25,000 hours of flight time at retirement two years ago.

She is a past director of the International Society of Women Airline Pilots and organized conferences for that group in Bangkok and Fort Worth. She is a member of the NinetyNines, Experimental Aircraft Association, and the Air Line Pilots Association.

When arthritis and multiple joint replacements curtailed her flying, she started a company as a professional voice actor. Appearing in a national Tylenol commercial in 1995 sparked her interest and The Captain’s Voice was the result. She is now an award-winning SAG/AFTRA narrator and voiceover talent and has done commercials, videogames, e-learning, audiobooks, and phone messaging for clients including Microsoft, Brilliance Audio, Johnson & Johnson, Audible, La Costa Resort, Jet Blue, Delta Airlines, Dell, Blackstone Publishing, the American Red Cross, Canadian Realtors…all the way to being the English voice for The Hotels and Casinos of Monte Carlo!

She was nominated for an Audie Award for her 5th audiobook narration (Come To Me Alive, by Leah Atwood) and went on to also earn a Voice Arts Award for non-fiction for In Movement There Is Peace, by Elaine and Joseph Foster; another Voice Arts nomination for Cyber Crisis: It’s Personal Now, by William Kieper; and recently was awarded an Earphones Award by AudioFile Magazine for Husbands and Other Sharp Objects, by Marilyn Simon Rothstein for Brilliance Audio.

She has served on the board of several charities, including Patrons of the HeArts and local Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministries (BEAM) and lives with her husband Amos in Atlantic Beach. Pam plays piano for her local church, still returns to Telluride, Colorado every summer, loves biking, golf, hiking, and-though she’s been all over the globe!- she still counts world travel among her most-loved hobbies.

I really enjoy police procedurals, and this one is a doosey. We follow two police detectives Susan Martinez and Barbara Lassiter as they try to find the murderer of vicious Victoria who must be the most unsympathetic victim I ever read about. I didn’t take me long to become part of the action, and I was following with Barbara and Susan tracking down the clues. There is lots of action in this book, including the private lives of the two detectives. If you love a good murder mystery this a great one, and can’t recommend this enough.
I have to say I never guessed who murdered vicious Victoria, the only thing is I didn’t want the person found. As the Barbara and Susan investigates the murder the more suspects they uncover.
The narrator did a marvellous job, making each characters voice very distinctive. Considering the large cast of characters

Q&A with Author Joe Badal

  • Do you believe certain types of writing translate better into audiobook format?
    • I don’t believe that one genre is more or less conducive to being translated into audio format. The key to a quality narration is the narrator. I’ve listened to self-help books on audio where only one voice was required and to thrillers where the narrator had to address dozens of characters. The books in each genre that were satisfying were entirely dependent on the quality of the narrator.
  • How did you select your narrator?
    • We auditioned a couple dozen narrators. I personally listened to each of the submissions and eliminated those who didn’t seem to “get it.” That left us with four possible narrators. We selected the one who had done her homework and knew how to pronounce a couple Spanish words.
  • How closely did you work with your narrator before and during the recording process? Did you give them any pronunciation tips or special insight into the characters?
    • The narrator and I established a working relationship right from the beginning. I was amazed at how little input I had to contribute because the narrator seemed to understand my characters and the plot from page 1.
  • Are you an audiobook listener? What about the audiobook format appeals to you?
    • I buy at least 25 audio books a year. New Mexico is a large state. Traveling around New Mexico involves long stretches of wide open spaces. Audio books make these extensive car trips enjoyable.
  • Is there a particular part of this story that you feel is more resonating in the audiobook performance than in the book format?
    • As much as I inject emotion into my stories, nothing can compare to the emotion conveyed by a narrator.
  • How did you celebrate after finishing this novel?
    • When I finished Borderline, I celebrated by starting on the sequel.
  • In your opinion, what are the pros and cons of writing a stand-alone novel vs. writing a series?
    • I currently have three different series going on. What I like to do is write a stand-along between books in a series because it tends to clean my literary palette. Both stand-alones and series books should have strong characterization. A good character will carry a good story. In a series, however, the author must be able to have the characters grow in complexity, which is obviously less of an issue when writing a stand-alone. not
  • Have any of your characters ever appeared in your dreams?
    • I keep a notepad next to my bed in case I dream about something I am currently working on. I frequently dream about contradictions I inadvertently put in a manuscript.
  • What bits of advice would you give to aspiring authors?
    • It’s not enough to tell a good story. There are technical aspects to writing that should not be ignored. Learn what they are and then edit, edit, edit.
  • Do you have any tips for authors going through the process of turning their books into audiobooks?
    • Don’t settle for just any narrator. There are many terrific narrators out there. Pick the one that best conveys your story and your voice.
  • What’s next for you?
    • I am almost finished writing the first draft of the third book in the Lassiter/Martinez Case Files series.

Q&A with Narrator Pamela Almand

  • When did you know you wanted to be an audiobook narrator?
    • After the first time I went out on a limb and challenged my comfort zone… and had a great time doing it!
  • How did you wind up narrating audiobooks? Was it always your goal or was it something you stumbled into by chance?
    • I’ve been a full-time voice actor and voiceover professional for about 15 years, but had always shied away from audiobooks since I did not have an acting background. I was busy doing tv and radio commercials, e-learning, voice messaging…but I have been an avid reader my entire life, so I decided to try it, with a cozy mystery and characters I could really have fun with. I found a book with a stipend and royalty-share on ACX and although I didn’t make the money I would make in voiceover gigs, I really enjoyed it!
  • Did you find it difficult to “break into” audiobook narration? What skill/tool helped you the most when getting started?
    • I used ACX to find titles that offered a stipend plus royalty-share. As a full-time professional, I just couldn’t justify doing anything for royalty-share only but the stipends were what got me started!
  • A lot of narrators seem to have a background in theatre. Is that something you think is essential to a successful narration career?
    • I do think it is an advantage to an audiobook narrator. It enables you to get deeply into a character with acting techniques. What I had to bring to the table without the benefit of acting training was the ability to get into my books that reading voraciously gave me! Books have always been an escape for me and to truly escape… you need to bury yourself in the story and the characters and somehow it shows up in narration!
  • What type of training have you undergone?
    • I try to do training with various coaches every year and I have benefited from all! I’ve studied with Scott Brick, Paul Ruben, Carol Monda, Pat Fraley, and many other top narrators and I will always try to keep improving my craft.
  • How do you manage to avoid burn-out? What do you do to maintain your enthusiasm for narrating?
    • I just love books! And I learn so much by doing varied genres!
  • Are you an audiobook listener? What about the audiobook format appeals to you?
    • I love to listen when I’m driving or working out, but I’ll have to admit, I’ve driven past a number of exits listening to a particularly exciting title!
  • What are your favorite and least favorite parts of narrating an audiobook?
    • The computer setup and tech aspects are not my cup of tea, and I sometimes feel a little irritated at doing punch and roll when I make a mistake. It is an indulgent joy to have a sound guy working the DAW. And I hate to have to stop and research a pronunciation, but most of the time, the publishers have already done so for me and that is a treat!

EXCERPT:

Forget soft and docile, this female was ferocious.
The secrets between them had unraveled. He saw her now for the first time, and she saw him. If he were to be honest, he would admit that he’d also hidden his true self from Fran. The Darren that Fran had dated for those few weeks was a suit-wearing businessman. He carried around a laptop. Had a personal manservant named Marcus. He’d neglected to mention at the time that Marcus had more duties than picking up his laundry and taking messages.
At no time did he find himself tempted to admit to Fran that he ran an academy for misfits he turned into elite soldiers for hire. The Fran he’d f*cked in Paris what seemed like a lifetime ago would have gasped and run from the violence he essentially condoned every single day.
Marina, on the other hand, embraced his lifestyle. There would be no judgement from her. Violence and firm methods for getting the job done wouldn’t shock or frighten her. Hell, given her fearlessness, Marina would probably want to be a part of the mayhem. She was utterly nuts. Beautiful. The perfect partner for a man like him who ran in interesting circles.
She was also a perfect liar. He saw how good she was when he returned from getting them breakfast.

But things at the hospital are new and strange. And it’s starting to scare me.

Everyone is young. Everyone is banded and tracked. And everyone is keeping secrets.

The cute geneticist Michael Bennett might be the only good thing in this crazy new world where “life is precious” but no one seems free to live it. The problem is, I don’t think he’s being totally honest with me, either.

When I’m told only I can save the human race from extinction, it’s clear my freeze didn’t avoid a dreadful fate. It only delayed the horror…

REVIEW:

I afraid you will have to excuse me, I just emerging from the future after reading the three books in the series one after another. First we have MirrorX where Cassie a seventeen year old was killed in a helicopter accident 2022. Cassie’s grandfather believed in cryogenics and placed Cassie in the company specialist S.T.A.S.I.S in Los Angeles.
So poor Cassie is awakened in 3022, we memories of just before the accident. Helpless in a bed with a body so wasted she cannot move. It doesn’t take long for Cassie’s real personality come peeking out, but she knows she can’t do anything until she is fit enough. This book finishes a story arc as they escape to Tasma to complete there project.
The Ascendancy
You just so know the perfect peaceful world is not all it seems ,and after being betrayed they get ready to implement the project in Tasma.
I not going to give to much away except to say I could see these books in a film format in my head as Michael and Cassie move through regions not knowing who to trust after being let down after Cassie finding out the truth of what happened to her.
In this brave new world a plague decimated the population 500 years before. One side effect left all women infertile, so for the last 500 years they have used cloning. Unfortunately the female clones are infertile. So all the populations left are all clones, and he who has the technology has the power.
This is a great trilogy as we watch the world trying to change and to be free. Let me say I enjoyed this immensely and I still firmly trapped in the 3020s.

I hope these come in an Audio format, and these are written for YA market so we have plenty action, underhanded behavior. The only unpleasant things that happen is what is in context to the story. This old bird thoroughly enjoyed my trip to the future.

♥♥REVIEW:♥♥

3.5 stars
This story was about Bella, Sophie’s sister from the Hookup, and the runaway bride.
It took me much longer to get into book than last one. Bella who had left Bradley at the altar, after finding out he had been cheating.
So it took a while to warm up to Bella and Christian, but I did as we get to know the real people behind their fears.
This is a sweet read with some hot sex thrown.
I think there is some more Jordan siblings like their brother Cain and his weekend sex pad up in the hill cabin. This is quick read sometimes we just don’t gel with characters.

REVIEW:

I couldn’t resist a book with the title Tall, Dark and Irresistible and I was right, I loved it.
Peyton lives in New York and to keep her overprotective parents of her back, she told them that  Leo Stone her boyfriend looks after her, and not to worry.
Peyton was madly in lust and had big crush on Leo in Chemistry at college where they were lab partners.
Of Course her cousin is getting married and her parents expect her boyfriend to come and stay for the week.
Things I enjoyed about this book is Leo is a nice guy as well as being swoonworthy. Peyton is a great girl, being an only child she wanted save her parents worry
When they meet up and Leo agrees to the ruse he realises the chemistry between them is off the charts.
A Hot sexy funny romance and I loved it. The narration was duel, so we hear from both Peyton and Leo. I always dual with a romantic comedy. You really do feel like a fly on the wall. So this is a must read for fans of pretend boyfriends who are so hot you must really want to know what happens and how they get there.

None of it will matter if Zach can’t keep their enemies at bay.

This is an amazing audiobook is narrated by Noah and Erin, and this is a duet narration
To the story, Toni comes back to her home town when her parents are killed, only coming back to arrange their funeral. Toni decide to stay for the summer and meets Zach her next door neighbour who she always a crush when she was younger.
Zach is a great character who is an enforcer for Hells Handlers, but a decent guy who fell for Toni after seeing around. This is definitely an adult story and being the first in the series we are introduced to all the characters.  I know this going to be a great series. There is plenty of hot sex and some violence, but this only pertains to the story. I loved Zach and Toni together, this is a spellbinding story that for me and going to be one of my favourites.
A pair of my favourite narrators keeping me in this spellbinding story, and I’m looking forward to the next in the series.

gold-stargold-stargold-stargold-stargold-star

I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Lilly Atlas. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.

  • Tell us about the process of turning your book into an audiobook.
    • I’ve worked with Noah and Erin for all of my books, so I think we have it down to a science by now. The set-up is all done through the ACX website. Then I send the manuscript and character notes on any accents, voice requests, a general description of the characters and their personalities. After that, my part is done until they send me files to listen to. I listen to the entire book, just to make sure everything flows well and I like what they’ve done with the characters—I always do. After any changes are made, the audiobook disappears into the world of Audible until it pops up for sale!
  • Do you believe certain types of writing translate better into audiobook format?
    • I suppose a textbook on Physics would be pretty dry and tough to listen to, but as far as fiction, and even most non-fiction, I think any book can be made into a quality audiobook. To me, it seems less the subject matter and more the quality of the writing and engagement of the narrators. Any book can be read in a monotone voice without much feeling and be underwhelming as opposed to read by narrators who are very engaged with the story and really feel the characters.
  • Was a possible audiobook recording something you were conscious of while writing?
    • Absolutely. I have all my books on audio, so it’s a no-brainer by now.
  • How did you select your narrator?
    • Originally, back when I wrote book one of the No Prisoners MC series, I listened to quite a few auditions from narrators. Noah’s was by far my favorite. He really captured the essence of my bad boy bikers. So, Striker is a solo narration by Noah. A bit later, I’d heard Noah and Erin’s duet narration of Curing Dr. Vincent and I just loved the duet narration. It takes the story to an entirely new level, so Erin was brought in for the rest of the series and beyond!
  • What do you say to those who view listening to audiobooks as “cheating” or as inferior to “real reading”?
    • I say, “Booo!” Audiobooks are amazing and just a different form of entertainment. I love how the medium is growing and expanding so rapidly. It’s a different experience than reading a book and so many people really enjoy listening to the narrators embody the characters. Also, there are so many people who are unable to read a book the traditional way for various reasons. Audiobooks gives those with visual impairments and other disabilities the chance to enjoy the works of millions of authors!
  • What gets you out of a writing slump? What about a reading slump?
    • Usually if I’m in a total slump and the ideas aren’t flowing, I step away from the computer and just go about my day. Then I let my mind wander and most of the time something will come to me. I’ve also found that if I’m struggling with a scene and not liking how it’s turning out, I need to just push on through it and get something written. For me, it’s much easier to come back later and edit something to my liking than to abandon mid chapter and try to pick up where I left off later. Facebook usually helps me out of a reading slump. I belong to so many author/reader groups, I’m always finding great recommendations.
  • In your opinion, what are the pros and cons of writing a stand-alone novel vs. writing a series?
    • I love writing series because as I am writing a book, I tend to give each ancillary character their own story in my head. Writing a series gives me the ability to expand on the universe I’ve created and give my secondary characters a voice and story. I love reading series for the very same reason.
  • Have any of your characters ever appeared in your dreams?
    • I’m more of a daydreamer than a night dreamer. I’ve had stress dreams about releases, but usually my characters don’t come to me in my dreams. During the day, however, I’m constantly drifting off, plotting, and imagining scenes to write.
  • What bits of advice would you give to aspiring authors?
    • Write, write, write! It’s the only way to grow and improve. Hire a professional editor. Beyond polishing and improving my books, I have learned so many tips and tricks from my editors about character development, plot development, and writing in general. It’s always a good idea to have outside professionals critique your work.
  • What’s next for you?
    • The second book in the Hell’s Handlers’ series, Maverick, released on Aug 14th. Noah and Erin are in the middle of recording Maverick so it shouldn’t be too much longer before the audio releases. I’m currently working on the third book, Jigsaw.
